Weight Watchers International (WW) Receives a Hold from Oppenheimer

In a report released today, Brian Nagel from Oppenheimer maintained a Hold rating on Weight Watchers International (WW). The company’s shares closed yesterday at $20.31, close to its 52-week low of $17.55.

Nagel wrote:

“Yesterday (May 2nd), after the market close, WW reported Q1 (Mar.) results. Shares of WW have underperformed meaningfully lately on indications of weaker than planned new member recruitment in early 2019. A close review of Q1 (Mar.) results and comments from management suggest clearly that while subscriber growth remains soft, trends later in the period stabilized and tracked better than subdued guidance. WW is by no means out of the woods. That said, we are encouraged that new marketing on the part of the company is resonating with core customers and helping to leverage an increasingly well built-out digital infrastructure. We continue to monitor WW closely.”
