Oppenheimer Keeps a Hold Rating on TripAdvisor Inc (TRIP)

In a report released yesterday, Jed Kelly from Oppenheimer maintained a Hold rating on TripAdvisor Inc (TRIP). The company’s shares closed yesterday at $48.67.

Kelly said:

“TRIP’s commentary on softer April Hotel meta auction trends is causing higher skepticism in its Platform segment’s ability to generate sustainable profitable growth after it completes marketing optimization initiatives that drove another solid EBITDA quarter (+18% y/y ex-FX). Softer auction owed to slower international macro, based on stable bidding but lower demand. However, other factors, such as competition, could be impacting growth based on other players expressing limited shift in macro dynamics since February. Increasing disclosure to three segments improves ability to monitor faster growing Experiences & Dining (E&D), and that segment’s 1Q revenue decelerating is a function of tougher comps; we expect higher E&D growth throughout year. Increasing ’19E/’20E EBITDA by 2% but remain on sidelines based on limited visibility into Hotel revenue trends.”

According to TipRanks.com, Kelly is ranked #694 out of 5182 analysts.
