Kirkland’s Gets a Buy Rating from B.Riley FBR

B.Riley FBR analyst Jeff Van Sinderen maintained a Buy rating on Kirkland’s (NASDAQ: KIRK) today and set a price target of $13.50. The company’s shares opened today at $11.04.

Van Sinderen commented:

“Kirkland’s (KIRK) reports 1Q results BMO 5/31. Aside from the much-discussed unfavorable weather (particularly for seasonal merchandise) and the calendar shift, we see 1Q as a transitional Q, as new management hones its plan and begins to execute. Overall, we do not expect much to be victorious in 1Q and we cannot rule out downside in some metrics, as new management takes action in ways that potentially could result in some transitional P&L elements. We remind that former CEO Mike Madden resigned from his position effective 4/5 and EVP and COO Michael Cairnes was acting CEO for less than a month when 1Q ended. Hence, what we are seeing in stores and the resulting business is the product of prior management.”

According to TipRanks.com, Sinderen is a 1-star analyst with an average return of -2.1% and a 46.8% success rate. Sinderen covers the Services sector, focusing on stocks such as Tilly’s Inc, Zumiez Inc, and JC Penney.

Kirkland’s has an analyst consensus of Moderate Buy, with a price target consensus of $13.50.
