Brean Capital Keeps a Buy Rating on Community Bankers Trust Corp (ESXB)

Brean Capital analyst Blair Brantley maintained a Buy rating on Community Bankers Trust Corp (ESXB) on January 25 and set a price target of $10.50. The company’s shares opened today at $7.51.

Brantley said:

“ESXB reported an EPS miss, with operating earnings of $0.15 vs. Brean/consensus of $0.17. Driving the result was elevated operating expenses primarily related to personnel costs (higher group insurance costs and succession planning). Positively, the reported NIM expanded 1 bp LQ while core NIM held firm, loan growth exceeded expectations and was funded with deposit growth, and loss content was nonexistent. Being self-insured, personnel expenses have been somewhat lumpy in 2018 and this quarter’s result was not ideal. On a core banking level, we are encouraged by the loan and deposit growth this quarter while ESXB was still able to hold the line on pricing. We look to get more clarity on the personnel expense moves as the company looks to consistently drive above-peer operating profitability metrics.”

According to TipRanks.com, Brantley is ranked 0 out of 5 stars with an average return of -4.0% and a 27.6% success rate. Brantley covers the Financial sector, focusing on stocks such as Carolina Financial Corporation, Patriot National Bancorp Inc, and Union Bankshares Corporation.
