Analysts’ Top Technology Picks: AMSWA, AKAM

There’s a lot to be optimistic about in the Technology sector as 2 analysts just weighed in on American Software (NASDAQ: AMSWA) and Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM) with bullish sentiments.

American Software (NASDAQ: AMSWA)

B.Riley FBR analyst Kevin Liu reiterated a Buy rating on American Software (NASDAQ: AMSWA) today and set a price target of $14.50. The company’s shares opened today at $14.64, close to its 52-week high of $14.74.

Liu said:

“American Software (AMSWA) reports 4Q18 results after the close on and will host its quarterly earnings call at 5:00PM ET. Our revenue and adjusted EBITDA estimates represent the consensus, while our pro forma EPS estimate is slightly below the only other estimate on the Street. We remain comfortable with our projections, which we believe AMSWA could meet or exceed. The primary variable as it relates to potential upside remains the pace at which the company’s business transitions to a subscription-based model. That said, we think strong underlying demand from manufacturers supports our expectations for another sequential increase in new cloud bookings and license fees within striking distance of year ago levels.”

According to TipRanks.com, Liu is a 5-star analyst with an average return of 15.7% and a 66.7% success rate. Liu covers the Technology sector, focusing on stocks such as Cornerstone Ondemand, Computer Task, and Blackbaud.

American Software has an analyst consensus of Hold.

Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM)

In a report released yesterday, Sameet Sinha from B.Riley FBR maintained a Buy rating on Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM), with a price target of $99. The company’s shares opened today at $81.81, close to its 52-week high of $82.71.

Sinha said:

“Summit is scheduled for Boston, MA. As has been the case in previous years, we expect management to provide a deep dive into the company’s product lines, TAM, opportunities and economics. We believe the focus will be on: 1) Value prop with newer CDN services, such as OTT and Edge; 2) Security products especially Cost cutting initiatives. The company has rearranged revenue reporting across business lines and hence we will be a looking for deeper insight across new categorizations. While historically the event does not offer a catalyst with +/- 1 day average stock move of ~-3% in the last five years, this event could be different as it will shed light on the turnaround efforts, margin expansion and new products. Our $99 PT is based on 14.0x 2019 AEBITDA, which is in line with comps; we maintain our Buy rating.”

According to TipRanks.com, Sinha is a 4-star analyst with an average return of 7.0% and a 56.7% success rate. Sinha covers the Technology sector, focusing on stocks such as Digital Turbine Inc, Limelight Networks, and Alphabet Inc.

Akamai has an analyst consensus of Moderate Buy, with a price target consensus of $86.
