EW Scripps (SSP)

In a report released today, Daniel Kurnos from Benchmark Co. maintained a Buy rating on EW Scripps, with a price target of $20. The company’s shares closed on Friday at $13.76.

Kurnos observed:

“We note that several OEMs that lost share in 1H18 have come back with increased incentive spend as SAAR hasn’t fallen off a cliff as most predicted, although there has been some incremental channel testing based on what we’re hearing. Retail and Services remained strong as an offset. Alternatively, we now see political coming in at $90 million or better for the year, implying at least a 20% growth rate over 2014 levels, highlighting the extremely competitive nature of this election cycle. We acknowledge that some lesser-funded candidates have emerged as upsets from some hotly contested primaries, but the vast majority of those were in the House, with the higher-spending gubernatorial and senate races remaining largely on script for a big November showdown.”

According to TipRanks.com, Kurnos is a 5-star analyst with an average return of 12.3% and a 54.4% success rate. Kurnos covers the Services sector, focusing on stocks such as Chicken Soup For The Soul Entertainment Inc, Booking Holdings Inc, and Sinclair Broadcast.

EW Scripps has an analyst consensus of Moderate Buy, with a price target consensus of $16, implying a 16.3% upside from current levels. In a report issued on July 31, Noble Financial also assigned a Buy rating to the stock with a $19 price target.
